Minister McKenna will visit Eastern Ontario to meet with businesses and communities taking climate action and growing the economy

Ottawa, Ontario – July 23, 2018 – The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, will travel to Eastern Ontario to meet with Canadian entrepreneurs making a difference in a low carbon economy and participating in a comprehensive approach to reducing plastic waste.

Minister McKenna will highlight actions the Government of Canada is taking to protect the environment, grow the economy, address plastic waste from all sectors of the economy and build a more sustainable future for generations to come.

Event: Visit of the City of Clarence-Rockland

Minister McKenna and Guy Desjardins, Mayor of Clarence-Rockland, will meet the owner of Leduc Bus Lines to discuss the importance of public transit for the area.

Event: Visit of the Ottawa Renewable Energy Co-operative

Minister McKenna will visit the Ottawa Renewable Energy Co-operative (OREC), a clean technology project built in partnership with Keewaywin First Nation on land owned by the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet. This is the first project of its kind in Canada.
